When you see your children going though a tough time it is a natural instinct to want to help them and/or fix it for them. There is a fine line as to when it is appropriate to do so and when it is better to let them resolve their own situation. The truth is you cannot always be there for them and they have their lessons to learn too.
Remove yourself emotionally as best as possible when the situation arises and evaluate from a neutral standpoint what makes the most sense. Sometimes you may just want to ask if help is needed. Other times you may choose not to interfere and then again you may find it better to do something. Either way it is most imperative to respond rather than react.
