To regain balance in a relationship it takes both parties to actively work the situation. If the work is one sided, no resolution can be found, and it will always feel unbalanced and uncomfortable.
If you are the one working the situation you need to realize several things:
1. Only one person is doing the work.
2. The situation is unbalanced and you cannot change it alone.
3. You cannot change other people.
What do you do then?
1. Stop working the problem. This changes the whole dynamic.
2. When you take this step back ask yourself, why do you want to fix this? What is in it for you? Choose new action (or non action) based on the insights you get.
3. Make friends with the uncomfortableness. Work your end and then make peace with whatever the outcome is. It may all never be resolved the way you ideally might think you want it resolved. The only real thing that matters is that you make peace with yourself.
