Unwinding

In today's hurried lifestyle it is hard to unwind.  There are things you can do throughout the day to refocus, such as conscious breathing (closing your eyes, emptying your mind, and taking a few focused breaths), short meditations, stretching, etc.

I personally find that at least once a month you do need more. You need to take time to give your inner world more space, to take time to listen to your inner self.  It is a resting period, but a conscious resting period, where you are undisturbed and in a quiet space.  You will know how much time you need.

If you are new to doing this, start with an hour of "nothingness".  Find a comfortable, quiet spot and just see, feel, listen to all that is around you and all that is in you.  No judging, no labeling.  Let everything come and go as it needs to.  Be open to whatever comes and doesn't come.

This time is a gift to yourself and is (at least for me) essential to your personal development towards a heart centered life.  :)
