It is not only the logistical aspects but also the emotional aspects that need to be brought to the surface and worked through. There comes a point where there is so much that you cannot process it anymore at that moment. When you find yourself on "overload" know that:
1) It is okay to shut the brain off and take a breather! The information has been given to you. You know what to do and it doesn't all need to be done immediately. Take a mental day off!
2) Give yourself an emotional break too! Everything is as it should be. It is okay to be sad and happy at the same time.
In addition, if you do specifically have a child going off to college, remember too that letting go is going to be tough not just for you but for all involved, most of all the one who is leaving, the one who will be spreading his wings in his first attempt to fly solo! Give him space to do so. He knows you are right behind him should he need you. Let go! It is time to give up the driver's seat. :)
