Compromise

"All compromise is based on give and take, but there can be no give and take on fundamentals.  Any compromise on mere fundamentals is a surrender.  For it is all give and no take." by Mahatma Ghandi

Compromise is a part of life.  It is always good to remember that it needs to be a two way street.  It only works if there is a give and take, if both parties meet in the middle and no values have been compromised.

However, when you compromise on your values/basic standards/fundamentals it becomes a one way street and ceases to be a compromise.  You are denying who you are and give up on yourself.  You go into the role of self sacrifice and victim still disguised under the term of compromise.

When it doesn't feel right to you, listen to that feeling.  Search for other options until it does feel right.  Be aware that when it comes to compromising with someone else it is imperative not to bend your values nor have the other party bend theirs.
