We all have negative and positive emotions. It is within your power to nurture one over the other. If anger or despair, for example, is taking over what can you do? Instead of trying to suppress it, choose not to feed it, that is don't give it energy.
Instead choose a positive emotion, such as kindness or love, to take its place. Put your focus on the positive emotion and help it develop into the space the negative emotion was holding.
To help you visualize all this, think of emotions as seeds that are all within you (as they are within all of us). The more you water one, the stronger and taller it will get. Choose the seeds you want to nourish and practice constant watering. :)
