These two quotes go so well together. Ethics = Reverence for life. Therefore the second quote could then read: "Live one day at a time emphasizing reverence for life rather than rules." Rules are man made, while life is divine. By living an ethical life you choose to honor the Divine over man made rules. Since you are a spark of the Divine, you are thus choosing to live in your center.
